How Does Home Energy Storage Work During a Power Outage?

What happens to a home energy storage system when the grid goes down?
First, the hybrid inverter detects the outage and disconnects the home from the grid. This protects the system and prevents power from flowing back into the utility line.
Then, the battery supplies electricity to selected household loads, such as lighting, a refrigerator, Wi-Fi, or other essential appliances.
If solar power is available, the inverter can use solar energy first and use the battery to support the remaining demand.
The backup time depends on three things: usable battery capacity, the power rating of the inverter, and the actual load in the home.
In short, home energy storage does not create electricity. It manages stored energy and solar power to keep essential loads running when the grid is unavailable.
